UVA Polo

The University of Virginia is known for a lot of things. One of the lesser known organizations; if you’re not abreast of the polo competition world, is the polo team. Five miles from the school sits a 75 acre polo training facility called the Virginia Polo Grounds. It’s here that the UVA team hones their skills, high school students discover a love for polo and enthusiasts participate in lessons and clinics. Each October there is a National Women’s Arena Open & Handicap Tournament. Arena games are a bit different than traditional polo matches specifically in the size of the field. Several club teams from around the area compete over a span of four days.
